Building Collaboration Apps for Microsoft Teams

  • Introduction to building Microsoft Teams apps using the Teams Toolkit for Visual Studio Code. The Teams Toolkit is an extension for Visual Studio Code and Visual Studio 2022. It helps developers build and deploy Microsoft Teams apps with built-in identity, cloud storage, and other services in Microsoft 365 and Azure. In this module, you will learn how to build a Microsoft Teams app using the Teams Toolkit for Visual Studio Code.
  • Building conversational bots for Microsoft Teams: Learn how to build bots to enable conversational interactions with users through text, interactive cards, and task modules in Microsoft Teams.
  • Building message extensions for Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365: Learn how to create message extensions that enable users to interact with external services within their workflow in Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365.
  • Build Tabs for Microsoft Teams: Learn how to create tabs that provide embedded web experiences in Microsoft Teams.
  • Connect web services to Microsoft Teams using webhooks: Learn how to create incoming webhooks and outgoing webhooks that connect web services to Microsoft Teams teams and channels.
  • Retrieving Microsoft 365 data for Microsoft Teams apps using Microsoft Graph: Learn how to authenticate users with the Microsoft identity platform, configure permissions, and retrieve user data for the Microsoft Teams app using the Microsoft Graph API.
  • Deploying a Microsoft Teams app to Azure using the Teams Toolkit for Visual Studio Code: When building apps for Microsoft Teams, based on your requirements, you can choose to host the web app on Azure. You can also add features that require cloud resources, such as Azure Key Vault or Azure Functions. If you are building bots, you will need to use Azure Bot. The Teams Toolkit for Visual Studio Code extension simplifies the process of setting up and deploying cloud resources by providing an easy way to select and provision these resources during the app development phase. It also serves to make publishing your app easier, whether you need to publish to your organization for other users to test or to create app packages that can be manually uploaded to Teams. In this training module, you will understand more about the infrastructure requirements and how to set things up to host and publish your app on Teams.
  • Guided Project: Build and deploy a Microsoft Teams app using the Teams Toolkit for Visual Studio Code: Practice building and updating Microsoft Teams apps that retrieve data from the Microsoft Graph. Deploy to Azure and publish the app to users in an organization.
