Course content: Implementing and managing Windows 11 with Microsoft Configuration Manager and Intune

Lesson 1 – Laboratory Overview and Setup

This lesson will guide you through the steps required to set up your on-premises lab environment and connect it to the Azure and Intune trial versions. This will provide you with the complete Microsoft 365 infrastructure needed to work across all workshop scenarios.

Lesson 2 – Planning and preparing the infrastructure.

For a successful deployment, you first need to know what you have. This involves taking an inventory of your devices and applications and verifying compatibility. Additionally, this lesson details how to simultaneously manage Windows 11 devices using Configuration Manager and Microsoft Intune. Co-management can help you get the most out of your existing Configuration Manager deployment by unlocking additional cloud-based capabilities, such as Conditional Access.

Lesson 3: Implementing Windows 11.

With everything prepared, the next step is to deploy the operating system images. This lesson will cover deploying Windows 11 using Configuration Manager on both physical systems and Windows 10-compatible systems via upgrade. Windows 11 deployments using Autopilot are also covered.

Lesson 4: Windows 11 Maintenance.

Upgrading to Windows 11, both to the current version and future versions, can be done through Windows Services. This lesson will explain how to use Configuration Manager and Windows Update for Business to upgrade using Windows Services.

Lesson 5 – Windows 11 Administration.

This lesson explains how to manage Windows 11 with Intune. First, by enrolling devices, and then by configuring software updates and other policies that can be implemented with Intune.

Lesson 6: Preparing and Implementing Microsoft 365 Applications for Business.

Microsoft 365 Apps for business is the modern office suite. This lesson will explain the different ways to deploy Microsoft 365 Apps for business using Intune, Configuration Manager, or on-premises methods. It also explains the different ways to manage and maintain Microsoft 365 Apps for business with each of these tools.

Lesson 7 – Managing the new Microsoft Edge.

The new Microsoft Edge improves and expands the browser experience. It works on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android devices, and comes pre-installed on Windows 11. This lesson explains how to deploy the new Microsoft Edge on earlier versions of Windows 10, how to update it using Intune and Configuration Manager, and how to manage policies with Intune and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).

Lesson 8 – Security and Compliance.

This lesson covers the security capabilities of Windows 11 that can enable organizations to be more secure, including BitLocker device encryption, Windows Defender antivirus, and Windows Hello for business.

To get the most out of this course, participants are advised to have:

  • Previous experience with Windows Server 2012 or later.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating system administration.
